Bready

We are very thankful to have members of our church who can help out massively in all aspects of the church, and more importantly, do help out. Everyone who is physically able to help and be involved in our various outreaches and ministries is getting involved, and so that is something that would be great to see in other congregations.

The Cross Is Required

I have a confession to make. I like the piece of sacred music entitled How Great Thou Art -not as part of a worship service, but as an expression of thanks to God for creating us and saving us. I particularly like the version sung by the American all- male a cappella group ‘Home Free’ that you can still see on YouTube. The scenery from the Swiss Alps is breathtaking and tuneful words and stunning pictures blend beautifully in appreciation of God’s creation.

Without God We Are Nothing

Picture if you will a room where twelve men sat together; a small pocket of unparalleled glory hanging over the precipice of the “hour of darkness” that lay ahead. Jesus tells his disciples, “I am the vine, you are the branches. The one abiding in me, and I in him, this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything.” (John 15:5) That sounds like a ridiculous thing to say. If you quoted that to a non-Christian, they would say “That’s absurd. I don’t even believe in God, and I do plenty of good things every day.

New Life Fellowship (Letterkenny)

The theme of God’s amazing providence and his covenant faithfulness in families has been a recurring theme in our church’s story as we trace how various people have come to church and to faith. For example, about 17 years ago a man unconnected with the church got a flat tyre, and through a long chain of events, 15-20 people have come to faith in Christ and are now a part of our church family.

Psalm 109

There is much more media about the start and end of Psalm 109 than the rest of the psalm put together, with the exception of V8: “May his days be few; may another take his office!” which is printed on T-shirts, the caption “Pray for Trump”.

About Religion – Do All Roads Lead to God?

Life is a journey - or so we are told. As a journey, life has a beginning, a middle and an end. A starting point, a direction of travel and an end-point. It all sounds so simple and straightforward, yet inevitably as the journey unfolds, certain questions arise: Where am I now on my journey? How can I be sure I’m on the right path? What is my ultimate destination? – to name but a few.

You Might Have Heard Of…

Rousseau is considered by many to be a vital connection between the Renaissance and the Enlightenment ways of thinking. In very broad terms, the Renaissance saw the rise of people using their reason to understand the world around them (think da Vinci and Galileo).

Psalm 121, the second song of ascents, was often sung as the people began their journey towards Jerusalem for the festivals. This psalm brought comfort and confidence in the Lord as he protected the people on their journey.
